Star Trek: Athena Episode List

The following is a list of episodes in the third series of stories for the "Star Trek: Athena" site. The stories in Series 3 follow the events of "Confluence," and contain Episodes 71 to Episode 101. All the episodes in Series 3 are now available.

To access a particular story, click on the title if a link is provided. This will take you to the teaser for the episode, and you can start reading there, or else click on one of the acts on the navigation bar to the left (the current act is shown in red). At the end of each act is another navigation bar. Click on "PREV" to go to the previous act (unless you are in the teaser), or click on "NEXT" to go to the next act (unless you are in the final act). Series Three Stories


Episode 71. Dead In Space

The Athena is on its way back to Earth after the confrontation at Cretaceia, and with the crew of the Alexandria on board, conditions are crowded. Meanwhile, the Ksassans are staging a bold attack on the Borg with unexpected consequences for subspace, leaving the Athena, and all other starships, dead in space. Episode 72. Once They Were Cyborgs

The Athena arrives at Earth, where Captain Thorpe and his science officer and lover Damiko Matsubara informs her parents that she is pregnant. At the same time, first officer Julia Bayanhong is united with Dusty, her comsfosaur—and then a Borg cube shows up at Earth and every other major planet in the Federation. Episode 73. Until the End of the World

Although the Babylon Project is being dismantled, it is still unclear whether the situation at Rigel has been faked or not, so the Athena heads back to that star system to further investigate the matter. They find that the situation is still confused, and not only are the changes to subspace having an effect on the Rigel stars, but on all stars. To read the story off-line, download the story. Episode 74. Soul Selling

Subspace might have been restored, but not in the same way as it was, as Starfleet begins to realize. Understanding that the Ksassans are somehow involved, the Athena, with Admiral Quinn on board, heads to Cas for meetings with the Ksassans. Captain Thorpe has his own sort of rendezvous with a Ksassan woman, while Quinn thinks he might have to negotiate away the Federation. To read the story off-line, download the story. Episode 75. Once More Into the Fire

The Athena, using its engines in the chronometric displacement mode, travels vastly farther than it has ever gone before, tens of thousands of light years deep into an ancient section of the galaxy where apparently ancient machinery controlling and maintaining the transwarp conduit network is located. Episode 76. Revisited

In a time-shifting episode, the consequences of a violent attack by Orion thugs on Captain Thorpe and Commander Matsubara in New Darwin are shown, for the couple and for the Federation at large. Thorpe, seemingly unable to remember more than a day or so, is healed using an illegal procedure, and then works on a plan to send them back in time to avoid that attack and undo what they feel is an error in the timeline—with consequences they could not imagine. Episode 77. Winter In Winnipeg, Spring In Kyoto (Part One)

With Commander Matsubara's pregnancy coming close to term, the couple spend a little leave time on Risa, before Matsubara leaves the Athena to give birth to their son. While on Risa, Thorpe runs into a mysterious man who seems to have informaton on the fate of Thorpe's father, Jerome Thorpe. Once more, the couple are off on a seemingly wild goose chase.


Episode 78. Winter In Winnipeg, Spring In Kyoto (Part Two)

Captain Thorpe and Commander Matsubara sneak into the Gamma Quadrant, having located the planet where the Babylon Project had its base. In fact, the planet has a base located there, but they do not arrive at the planet alone. While Matsubara remains on the Styx II, alone except for a holographic doctor as the birth of her son nears, Thorpe attempts to finally get the answer to the question on his father. Episode 79. David

The Athena is at Earth, and Captain Thorpe is lobbying Starfleet Command for the assignment for the follow-up mission to the Omerra Open Cluster, replacing the Americo. Meanwhile, first officer Commander Bayanhong meets up with an old friend and lover, and finds that he is not the man that she remembers. To read the story off-line, download the story. Episode 80. By Thy Own Hands

Captain Thorpe finds himself involved in the world of continuously-running holodeck characters, as he sees the need to shut them down in order to free up computer memory and processor time, and one of those characters is Eperingham Shore. Episode 81. The Underside

Security Chief Sal Hakamura goes undercover to infiltrate Federation merchants who are illegally selling advanced weapons to a rebel organization on a prewarp, Prime Directive-protected planet, with the purpose to identify those individuals behind the plan and what their aims are. Episode 82. Scrambled Eggs

The Athena encounters a disabled alien starship that bears the young of a previously-unencountered race, but their attempts to bring that ship and its cargo back to the home planet does not go as expected, as Captain Thorpe and his crew find the attitude of the A-Po towards their young a little peculiar. Episode 83. Hook

The Athena encounters the wreckage of the starship Vanguard, and quickly determine that it came from the future. There are survivors, but they soon die, with the last leaving the cryptic message to complete the mission. While exploring the wreckage, the crew finds the body of Kathy Brigson, the sister to science officer Grace Brigson. What mission did that ship want to complete, and for which Brigson's sister died? Episode 84. Home Ground

The Athena receives a distress signal on a subspace frequency from the planet Zekred, known to be a prewarp civilization, and the distress message implies that the planet is under "alien attack," but when the starship arrives, the "aliens" are found to be of the same xenotype as the Zekredi;—and the attackers are using advanced weapons on the Zekredi. Episode 85. Remember Him

Type Two Inverse Thrust subspace waves, the same kind felt in the galaxy after the "Lazarus incident" over a century earlier, are felt again, and the Athena, being the closest ship, is sent to investigate. Episode 86. Beating the Drums of War (Part One)

The Athena, en route to Deep Space Thirteen, makes a stop at Philentrophia, the home planet of Commander Hakamura, allowing the security chief to visit his parents and introduce them to Marlina Tsonga. At the same time, chief engineer Rodall Dewuchun has arranged a meeting with his wife on the planet. Just as the Athena is leaving, a Borg cube is spotted heading to Philentrophia.


Episode 87. Beating the Drums of War (Part Two)

The Athena returns to Philentrophia under cloak to assess the situation and rescue the stranded Starfleet officers that it can, while those on the planet, including Hakamura's parents and Chief Engineer Dewuchun's wife Inizi begins to experience what the Ksassans have in mind. Episode 88. Lost and Alone

While the crew is preoccupied with the situation on Philentrophia and feels that the Athena could be more useful elsewhere, Captain Della Grey at Deep Space Thirteen has another mission for the ship, a simple one to retrieve a diplomatic team from a planet named Hrova. Of course, the situation is never as simple as that. At the same time, Dr. Psakolaps makes contact with a local woman. To read the story off-line, download the story. Episode 89. How Far

While the Athena begins an exploration mission in an unexplored sector, they come across a starship crewed by a race known as the Sosans, who were previously unencountered. While implying that their ship is disabled, they convince the crew to help with repairs, which are done much faster than expected. The Sosan ship soon disappears—with Lieutenant Commander Vorwoorts on board. While the Athena tracks down the Sosan ship to recover their missing crewmember, Vorwoorts tries to figure out what the Sosans want with her. To read the story off-line, download the story. Episode 90. Tread Carefully

Starfleet has lost contact with the Devon, the ship sent to the Omerra Open Cluster in place of the Athena. Now, Captain Della Grey of Deep Space 13 has assigned the Athena to investigate the loss of contact and essentially take over from the Devon. Episode 91. A Feast of Dust

The Athena has located a missing \Devon\ runabout at the planet of Cork, so the runabout Irrawaddy, under the command of Henrietta Vorwoorts, is sent there to search for the missing Devon crewmembers. They find a hot, dry world and an alien structure that they seek shelter in when mysterious forces drain their power. Episode 92. To Explore Strange New Worlds

Captain Thorpe has been provided some new crewmembers by Starfleet Command, and he assigns most of them to the Devon, and first officer Julia Bayanhong is given a field promotion to captain and assigned the Devon. One of those new crewmembers, the Betazoid science officer Enxya Djurkurn, has information on where the Overseer Preserver monument may be located, and with this information, the Overseer language may be translated. The Devon heads to Waterford, and there Djurkurn has an unexpected encounter with some Overseer technology. To read the story off-line, download the story. Episode 93. The Relic

An attempt to reactivate Overseer technology on the Overseers' Planet results in a signal being transmitted throughout the Omerra Open Cluster, and the return signals indicate the locations of functioning Overseer installations. One of those is at Sligo, and the Athena lander is sent there to investigate. On board is Djurkurn, who is still learning to use—and appreciate the limits of—her new abilities. Episode 94. The Ghost of Deep Space Nineteen

An explosion at the Oversser station at Galway, which the Starfleet Corps of Engineers is converting into what will become Deep Space Nineteen, has injured Captain Thorpe and Lieutenant Djurkurn. They apparently wake up years later, when the station is fully operational, the Omerra Open Cluster is under Federation control and the Bendari are becoming beligerent that they did not get a share of the wealth. Episode 95. The Mentor

The information that the Athena crew is getting from the Overseer database implies that there is an additional planet in the cluster that is not on their charts, a world that they called Eire. The runabout Thames under Commander Sanjay Indesakar is sent to investigate, but they see nothing there—yet Kelsey Hann can sense a presence. The Overseer ship Dublin is then sent there, and it can detect a presence. An away team manages to board an installation on Eire, and find many different species in statis—including one special individual. To read the story off-line, download the story. Episode 96. Hunter and Hunted

Based on information that Captain Thorpe received in his coma state after the incident at Deep Space Nineteen, he suspects that diberyllium can be found at Clare. The Devon is sent there to investigate, and they find a single Overseer installation there that may or may not lead to the valuable material. Meanwhile, a Ksassan warcruiser under the command of Denonrupetu, with whom Thorpe has a history, enters the cluster and determines that Clare is the destination they want to go to. Episode 97. Under A Foreign Gun

Sal Hakamura and Rodall Dewuchun's wife Inizi are living under the Ksassan occupation on Philentrophia, and are part of the resistance movement, a movement that the Ksassans are effectively compromising and containing. However, there is one last mission, to free an Odonan who is a subaqe, one of a telepathic couple, and hence someone that they could use to communicate with the rest of the universe. Episode 98. The Wages of War

A second Ksassan warcruiser, looking for the missing first one, enters the Omerra Open Cluster and heads to the Overseers Planet. Captain Thorpe and his crew are still searching for the diberyllium they need, although they have quietly convinced an Odonan ship under the command of Chiang Tron to loan him a similar material. Episode 99. As One

The Athena is informed that their mission in the Cluster has come to an end, and they are to return to Deep Space 13. The Dublin is to accompany them, but then is diverted to Earth. Shortly thereafter, the Overseer ship reports that they have suffered a malfunction and are dead in space. The Athena is sent to investigate, but when they arrive where the Dublin was located, what they see was not what they expected. To read the story off-line, download the story. Episode 100. By the First Light of Dawn (Part One)

Starfleet, through assorted intelligence sources, are increasingly concerned that a second wave of invasions, including that of Trill, are to come, so under Admiral Quinn, Starfleet is determined to stop this by going on the offensive and test their new weapon. Plans are made, both on Philentrophia—and the other occupied worlds—and with the various task forces being formed. Captain Thorpe is assigned command of the task force that will attempt to liberate Philentrophia.


Episode 101. By the First Light of Dawn (Part Two)

The liberation of Philentrophia begins with the attack on the Borg cube ship stationed there, and during this invasion, all that Captain Thorpe and Lieutenant Hakamura and the others have learned and considered and prepared for will be put to the test, as well as their ability to improvise on the fly.
